All-in-One Enterprise Tablet Solution Priced Below 70$, Introduced by TI

Dallas: Texas Instruments along with AllGo Embedded System has introduced the reference design of new all-in-one Enterprize Tablet called as eTab. AllGo Embedded Systems is a TI Design Network Member. This reference design enables the developers to make and release customized enterprise tablets in near future, i.e. within three months.

eTab Reference Design is highly integrated and Embedded System proves the commitment of TI towards innovation for fast developing sectors like building automation, home, retail, education, healthcare, industrial, etc. This design will have support for Android v4.0 or ICS operating system and will have total BOM of less than 70 USD. This design is based on Sitara AM335x ARM Cortex A8 processor.

With the introduction of these designs and systems, tablet makers can be able to develop customized software and customized tablets. This helps them to integrate market specific specs like contactless or contact card readers, barcode scanners, biometric sensors, and many others. Customization can also be done for connectivity, audio, power management, and other options also. This design provides more flexibility for the developers to support enterprise applications which are cost effective. For instance, the customized tablets can be used for the production of standalone tablets or can also be used as control panels for controlling the appliances or machinery in the industries.

Important features of eTab Reference Design include, the presence of 800 Mhz Cortex A8 processor from ARM, BOM costs less than 70 USD, support for Blueooth and Wi-Fi technologies, seven inches screen size, touch screen supported, and provided with LCD panel. It is also provided with capacitive type of touch screen. Another important feature of this design is that it is production ready software and hardware.

ARM processor provided on this design will be helpful in addressing wide range of customer needs. Sitara ARM Cortex A8 processors start at just 5 USD, but they provide good performance levels, of up to 800 Mhz. It consumes less power and has support for peripherals like rich 3D graphics, optimized solutions, display and USB controller.
